In late January 2017, Uber was targeted by GrabYourWallet for gathering fares during a taxi strike in New York City in protest of Trump travel ban Executive Order 13769. The Order had triggered a taxi strike in New York City, to which Uber responded by casting off surge pricing from JFK airport, where Muslim refugees were detained upon entry. Uber was also targeted as a result of then CEO Travis Kalanick joined an Economic Advisory Council with Donald Trump.
